Cool to the touch with hot liquids.
Amazon.com Review With a 2-3/4-inch bottom that fits most vehicle drink holders, this lightweight mug makes hot coffee, tea, or chocolate available on the road. Hot beverages stay hot for at least 1 hour. Cold beverages stay chilled for several hours. Twist the finely threaded stopper tight, and the mug won't leak even if it's knocked over. Twist it about a quarter-turn and drink out of either side--lips on both sides make it easy--without removing the stopper. Made of stainless steel and tough plastic, with a rubber inset inside the handle for comfort and a rubberized ring around the body for a firm grip, the mug is handsome and virtually unbreakable. It stands 7-1/4 inches high, and its smooth stainless-steel interior cleans easily with a sponge or cloth. Nissan insulated products carry five-year warranties against defects. --Fred Brack

Fits My Volkswagen March 16, 2010 A. Dove (Springfield) As other reviewers have said, this is a great mug that doubles as a Thermos bottle. I hesitated before ordering it, though, because I own a Volkswagen Beetle.
That's a problem, because European car makers have a complete mental block about cup holders. They just don't seem to understand the dimensions of an American cup of coffee. It's not hard - the Big Three (who get almost everything else wrong) all figured it out years ago, and the Japanese have practically turned cup holders into an art form. On my old Volvo, though, the cup holders were a bizarre sculpture of folding plastic that couldn't hold anything without falling apart. The Beetle is slightly better, having actual cup-shaped holders that can theoretically hold actual cups. Where the Germans screwed up, though, is in the height: the front console comes down to within a few inches of the front cup holders, so most travel mugs are too tall to fit.
This one fits. Barely. You have to tilt it slightly and angle it in from the side, but then it drops right into the holder and stays put. Once you get the hang of inserting and removing it, it's fine - and actually quite secure. You'd almost think the VW engineers had designed the holder for precisely this size cup, with the low-hanging console helping to keep it in place. More likely, it's just a lucky coincidence.
I'm ordering a new one now, as my wife (who drives a Honda with sensible cup holders) has taken the first one.
A great replacement March 10, 2010 Carina C (California) My boyfriend needed a travel mug so I just went to the store and bought the first one I found, which ended up not being a good pick. The first day he used it fell and split everywhere.
So, to redeem myself I went on amazon and searched for the best Travel Mug I could find and this one was it. After reading numerous review, this one sounded like the best one. As soon as he received it he did the spill test. He closed up the lid, turned it upside down and shook it. Nothing came out, he was very impressed.
We can't find anything wrong with this travel mug, it is a great replacement for any travel mugs that are so-so.
It's a leak-proof mug that keeps drinks hot March 7, 2010 Christine (NH) Does what it's supposed to. I am very pleased with this mug. The only thing that was starting to irk me was that it gets stained on the inside. Cleaning it out with a soapy sponge didn't do anything for the staining. But then I read that if you put a couple teaspoons of baking soda in there, pour in warm water, and let it soak overnight, the stains will come out when you wash it out afterwards. After a year of use, I just did this for the first time today. While the stains didn't completely come out, I was able to remove about 40% of the stains and it looks a lot better. I will do this more often now that I'm aware of it.
Aside from that, it is a bit tricky to clean and it takes a long time to dry out because of the crevices inside, but as long as you rinse it thoroughly with soap and hot water daily it doesn't trap odors so much, and I do use cream in my coffee. Occasionally I'll drink earl grey tea out of it, and the bergamot oil pretty much kills any lingering coffee smell that's in there. So it's good to alternate, if you enjoy tea and coffee and don't mind the mug smelling like bergamot sometimes.
I do wish it held more liquid. For its size, it doesn't hold as much as similarly sized mugs because it needs 1-2 extra inches of space under the lid in order to seal properly. Including the tall lid/sipping area, there are about three inches of height to this mug that can't hold liquid.
You may wish to give your hot beverage extra time to cool off before sealing the mug because it really does keep it very hot for a long time. If I make tea in the mug with near-boiling water, it takes over half an hour before it's cool enough to drink. I'm not going to fault the mug for working a little too well. If I make the tea at home before bringing the mug to work, I'll brew it in a separate glass so it cools.

This is a must for every dog parent.
Lid easily becomes stuck February 22, 2010 Katie (Santa Barbara, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This mug works great, except for one fatal flaw: If you leave the lid screwed on with hot liquids inside and leave it long enough for the liquid and air to cool then the lid gets stuck because there is a vacuum created. I almost threw the mug out twice because I had such difficulty getting the lid unscrewed. It is also hard to get your fingers down onto the lid to get a good enough grip to unscrew. Now I try to remember to leave the lid open if I know I am not going to finish off my coffee.
