High Capacity Mug March 12, 2010 Ser. H This mug holds quite a bit of coffee and keeps it hot for many hours and warm 12 hours later. In fact it stays so hot I typically throw in 2 to 3 ice cubes to cool it to appropriate drinking level before I cap it. It is really large as you can see in pictures so don't think this will fit into a car cup holder. The button top works well for keeping liquids inside. However the small amounts under the cap but prior to the sealing rings may spill a drop or two if inverted.
Easy to clean I use one of those all purpose long brushes. Also notable is if you push up from the bottom of the cap the top will pop out allowing you to clean inside those crevices within. Snaps back together easily just two pieces to align. Also noteworthy is due to the fat bottom design when the liquid level is low you really need to invert this thing at extreme angle to get the last bit of drinkable liquids out. Noticed that while in the car driving. That is just how it is designed.
Only thing I would change is add flares to the top of the cup similar to my Nissan Thermos cup which really does make drinking more comfortable. That is a minor nitpick and doesn't detract from this otherwise excellent mug.
Excellent Mug March 9, 2010 Raymond R. Morin (Near Chicago) For a number of years I used the Nissan Ultimate Desktop mug and it worked well but for some reason on occasion it would drip from the cover seal area. Try as I could I couldn't figure out why. So I bought this mug to sit on my desk. I drink 2 or 3 full mugs of tea a day using this mug. I love the wide base which cannot be easily tipped over. I love having my tea very hot even after several hours sitting with it open and ready to sip.
I also love that you can drink from any side of the rim. This is great as I switch hands that hold it.
You open the mug by pushing in the white button at top center and close it by pushing the ring around the button. Very simple. I usually leave it open as it sits on my desk and very little heat escapes unlike a more conventional mug opening.
I drink tea and over time it leaves a residue in the cover mechanism. It is difficult to describe but once you figure how to open it it can be cleaned but not so easily. A downside to the clever closing system. While I leave it open most of the time I have tested it out and when closed it does not leak when turned upside down.
Sometimes I use it for ice water. The smaller opening makes it harder to fill with ice cubes from a dispenser than other mugs but not really a big deal. Ice cubes stay whole for hours and I will refill only the water over a long afternoon or evening.
I have not used it for travel yet but the simple screw on cap seals it perfectly watertight in my tests.
This is the best large mug I have ever used.
hot 12 hours later! March 2, 2010 M. Gardner (california) I ordered this product directly from Highwave's website. Much to my dismay, the lid was broken when it arrived. It simply didn't function as it should. I contacted the manufacturer and they sent me out a replacement lid pronto. The lady also sent me a follow up email. Excellent customer service. The new lid works perfectly! At 9am I made tea from boiling water, placed it in the mug, closed the drink top and secured the outer lid. When I came back to the mug at 4pm, I still could not drink the tea, it was so hot! I put the lid back on, came back at 9pm and only then could I begin to tolerate the heat. Wow! So now, if I really want to drink my tea sooner, I just leave the lid off for a little while to let it cool down a bit. The bottom line is, it keeps the temperature of your beverage nearly constant for many hours. Another bonus is the design of the drink top. You can drink from any side of the mug. No having to rotate it in your hands to get to the opening. All in all, this is a fantastic choice.
grownup tippee cup February 28, 2010 S. G. Sebree (Salina, Ks) I tend to spill coffee down the front of my shirt easily. Ordered this after changing lab coats thee times in one day.
It really keeps coffee hot over 4hours AND I have not spilled coffee since.
I anticipate it will reduce my lab laundry costs substantially.
New favorite coffee mug. February 26, 2010 James Peden (PDX, OR) Have been looking long and hard for a wide base travel mug that actually holds a decent amount of liquid. The search is over. The wide base has a lot of grip, it'll keep hot beverages hot for at least two hours, and it seems really durable. Have absolutely no complaints at all. Far and away the best travel mug I've owned, and I've owned more than a few. Works great for offroading too. If this thing tips over, your vehicle has probably tipped over.
